UPSC to Host India Economic Services Review 2020 October 16-18-India News, Firstpost
Those wishing to take the UPSC IES exam must have a postgraduate degree in Economics or Applied Economics or Business Economics or Econometrics.
The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has decided to hold the Indian Economic Service 2020 exam from October 16 to 18.
“At the specific request of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, the Commission has reconsidered its previous decision and has now decided to hold the Indian Economic Service Review 2020 from October 16-18, 2020,” UPSC informed via a notification.
The notification for the IES 2020 exam is expected to be released on August 11.
Those wishing to take the UPSC IES exam must have a postgraduate degree in Economics or Applied Economics or Business Economics or Econometrics. Those who are in the last semester / year of a master’s degree are also eligible for the exam.
A candidate must not be under 21 and over 30. The relaxation of the age limit is planned for the reserved category.
The written stage consists of six articles. General English and General Studies are 100 points each. In addition to that, there are four exams of 200 points each – General Economics 1 and 2, Optional Economics 3 and Indian Economics.
All of these articles are descriptive in nature and the maximum time allowed to complete each article is three hours.
Those who qualify the written stage are called for the interview. The final picklist is prepared based on the performance of Steps 1 and 2.
According to a report in Indian express, The UPSC canceled the IES 2020 exam earlier in June due to zero vacancies.
The new website cited a Commission notification that said, “The Indian Economic Service Review, 2020 will not take place due to the NIL vacancy reported for the Indian Economic Service by the Ministry of Finance (Department of Business economic). “
